No wonder Michelle Obama likes Jason Wu. I don’t think anything is sexier than a loose fitting yet elegant garment. My favorite outfit is the one on the bottom left, I’ve been rather partial to drop crotch pants and blazers as of late.

Thurs.

I think my class schedule is about to be settled today. I was waitlisted for two of my four classes and as the deadline to add/drop classes approached, I was getting nervous about whether I would get in to either one. Luckily I got into the class I wanted, the European novel, and today is the first day of my practical criticism decal. That means I can stop going to astronomy! I’m dropping that shit! I’ve never been a science person and I’m almost done with my breadth classes (the gen ed requirements at Berkeley) so I’ll have time to take astro later.

After I drop astro, I’m going to have the best schedule ever. I’ll only have class for an hour a day on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Tuesdays and Thursdays will be more packed but I won’t have class till 2 pm. Nothing to complain about.

My apartment is getting better and better decorated. Well, my room is, that is. I live with three boys and they don’t care about the aesthetics of our living room very much. I got a couple of paintings at Urban Ore, which is this ginormous thrift store type warehouse in Berkeley that has everything you could ever want in used/broken form. So yeah, we have this 1970’s picture of a pink bird, an orange bird, and a blue rabbit and then some drawing of this 19th century gentleman, and a old family portrait of a Chinese couple that is unrelated to anyone. I tried to make my room more pleasing to the eye, I dare say. I got a woven carpet because we have hard wood floors. And I hung up a few of my own drawings, pictures of friends and family, a Gauguin print, and a huge mirror. This place is starting to feel like home now.

I think this editorial is amazing. What better combination than flashy 1980’s-meets-nineteenth-century dresses and UFOs? Eh, eh?

hey, me again

Funny how when you have tons of free time, you have no desire to complete the few easy tasks you do have, work towards your goals, or pursue any endeavors wihout being prompted. However, when you are overloaded with school, amateur journalism, and college life in general, you experience bouts of inspiration that leave you craving to read books and articles that have not been assigned to you, stay up-to-date on fashion, write in your blog (ahem), et cetera, et cetera.

This is my round-about-way of acknowledging that I have been rather unproductive this summer and will probably regret it later when I am busy again. Maybe I do work well under pressure. I can’t be in a state of half-work and half-leisure, so it was rather difficult for me to do some things I set out to do, like work on my short story, for instance. The story is in the works but I have not devoted nearly as much time to it by now as I would have hoped.

Well, now school has started, which means that I will be tumbling more often. I guess when I have school, I spend a lot of time on the computer and it’s easy to quickly check google reader/tumblr/facebook. I hope this will mean that my little blog will return to it’s former glory.

things I learned while 18:

  • Seemingly infallible people and ideas can be flat-out wrong.
  • “Forever” is limited.
  • From cells that make up the body to people that make up societies, our world is repetitive.
  • Books are trustworthy friends (knew that one, but I believe it all the more strongly now).
  • It’s easy to forget that there is more than one way to do things. Patterns can change and be changed.
  • Biological predeterminism.
  • Yoga, videogames, and cooking are all really fun. I still suck at videogames though.
  • I need my alone time.
  • I’m lucky.
  • There is a lot I want to learn but sometimes not knowing is okay.
